Empower’s EDI approach Empower supports diversity with a dedicated EDI strategy, led by an EDI team who meet monthly, report back to the team at monthly team days, and run monthly awareness sessions. We survey our team 3x a year and share the results transparently back to the whole team. On EDI, we specifically survey our team annually with an EDI lens, this helps us understand and support our team better, and helps to foster a feeling of psychological safety. Our most recent EDI survey revealed our team is 80% female, 67% of the team describe their ethnicity as white, 46% have a disability, 70% identify as having neurodivergent traits, 54% identify as heterosexual, and 75% are state educated. 94% of the team feel included at work and 71% of the team see meaningful changes in Empower’s inclusive policies. We hosted 2x black interns in 2023, through 10,000 Black Interns, supporting them with mentorship, skills and training, and paying them a living wage for 6 weeks. We operate a blind recruitment process to reduce unconscious bias, and support diverse interviewees by sharing questions in advance and paying people to complete interview tasks. To support a gender-balanced team our employee policies offer equal parental leave to anyone male, female or non-binary, becoming a parent, and female health policies including menopause, infertility, PCOS. We offer return-to-work coaching and support to parents reintegrating after paternal leave. On pay, we benchmark our salary bands against three industry standards annually, and operate transparent pay banding. We offer the team free therapy sessions and rapid access to therapists. In our November 2024 survey 90% of our team stated that Empower is run on strong values and principles, and 85% would recommend Empower as a good place to work. In addition to the answers above, that ensure Empower is an inclusive employer for all of our team, we are focused on disability inclusion by working towards being a Disability Confident Employer. We hosted 2x disabled interns in 2024, supporting them with mentorship, skills and training, and paying them a Living Wage. We support the 46% of our team who are disabled via flexible and remote working that allows them to manage their condition optimally around work. We provide home desk assessments, and provide additional equipment where needed.
