We’re delighted to announce that, for the second year in a row, Empower has been chosen for Escape the City’s The Escape 100, a well-known campaign highlighting the top purpose-led organisations to ‘escape to’ in 2023!

Nominated with 13,000 other companies, Empower has come out in the top 100 – ranking alongside social enterprise giants such as HereWeFlo, Origin Coffee and Too Good to Go, thanks to our positive impact, mission and flexible work environment.

“Winning The Escape 100 means even more a second year running. 2022 felt like a pat on the back for arriving as a people-first employer, 2023 shows we are managing to maintain, retain, evolve, and tackle the challenges that growth and maturation brings, whilst remaining values led. I’m so proud of all of us and impressed to be in such wonderful, hope-filled company – at Empower and across the Escape the City community.”

Jaz Cummins, Co-Founder & Director

What is The Escape 100?

Escape the City is an organisation that, since 2010, has been on a mission to help one million people quit their corporate roles and find work that matters to them and the world.

As Escape the City set out to complete their mission they began to wonder: what actually makes an organisation different, forward-thinking, and impactful?

As consumers continue to seek out purpose-led, human and planet friendly organisations so are job seekers. Due in part to the pandemic, now more than ever employees are seeking careers that are meaningful and fulfilling. From this they began The Escape 100 campaign which is an annual list of top 100 purpose-led organisations to work at.

Dom Jackman, Founder of Escape the City, explained further:

“The job market is still dealing with the impact of the pandemic, and jobseekers will have to work harder than ever to find opportunities that align with their values. This list has been designed to rank organisations on the metrics that really matter. What are they doing to save our planet? How do they look after their people? What problems are they solving? These are all things that jobseekers want to know in 2023, and we hope this list helps talented people discover interesting opportunities and organisations that they might not have found otherwise.”

Nominated organisations are scored against six criteria: Impact, Innovation, People, Mission, Planet, B-Corp, including anonymous employee reviews, and then ranked.

Why Empower came out in the top 100
