COP26: Empower designs videos and carousel slides for global climate conference in Glasgow

“We wanted to say thanks again for this content. The assets are great and have performed brilliantly. So well in fact, that we are keen to use them again. The team was a pleasure to work with and made everything easy for us. And thanks for working with our tight timelines.”

Joe Lovstrom, Digital Co-Lead at COP26 – UN Climate Change Conference

About COP26

‘COP’ is the formal meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Parties.

COP stands for the ‘Conference of the Parties’ – the governing body of an international convention. COP refers to all of the parties involved – including world leaders and heads of state – as well as to the decision-making process of reviewing and putting the rules of the convention into effect.

The United Nations Climate Change Conferences are yearly conferences held in the framework of the UNFCCC, or COP, to assess progress in dealing with climate change.

The Challenge

The COP26 digital team approached Empower to produce a series of branded promotional videos giving viewers a flavour of what is going on in and around the Glasgow Conference.

In addition, Empower were asked to create a design template for carousel slides to help drive awareness for specific climate-related topics.

The Approach

Empower’s design team created entertaining and educational carousel slides, as well as bit-sized videos that combine video, text and animation to create engaging and informative explainer videos – all of which convey the sometimes complicated COP26 messaging in an easily digestible manner.

Working closely with the COP26 team was crucial to ensure all of the messaging and creatives were in line with the strict COP26 brand guidelines.
