## About Plan

 

[Plan International UK](https://plan-uk.org/) (Plan UK) is a global children’s charity striving for an equal world. One where every child can reach their full potential and every girl can choose her own future.

They work together with children and communities across the world, building a future where every child receives an education and has their voice heard, where all girls are free from violence, in control of their own body and know their rights.

To refine their social media approach and build on their impact, Plan UK approached Empower for a comprehensive audit and a tailored social media strategy that would support their wider organisational goals and resonate with their target audiences.

 

 

 

## The Approach

 

Empower took a deeply collaborative approach to developing a social media strategy tailored to the specific needs and structure of Plan UK.

The process included several key stages, all designed to provide both strategic insights and practical guidance that could be seamlessly integrated into their existing workflows and internal processes.

**1. Stakeholder Engagement:** We started by conducting a series of in-depth interviews with Plan UK’s internal stakeholders, as well as a workshop with the senior leadership team. This ensured we fully understood their objectives, challenges, and the nuances of their internal operations before moving forward with any strategy development.

**2. Social Media Audit:** We conducted a comprehensive audit of Plan UK’s social media presence, analysing a full year’s worth of data across all platforms. This included evaluating engagement rates, audience demographics, content performance, and how these aligned with Plan UK’s goals. Our audit provided deep, actionable insights into what was working, what wasn’t, and where improvements could be made.

**3. Strategy Development:** Based on the audit findings, Empower led the creation of a bespoke social media strategy for Plan UK. We ran multiple feedback sessions with Plan UK’s team to refine the strategy, ensuring it was aligned with their objectives and actionable for their teams.
