Video production and strategy continues to grow as a core service offering from the Empower team, since we last wrote about our video production highlights. Our newly updated social video showcase collates a range of fresh examples of our video, illustrating how it can be used for different causes, campaigns and audiences, in different formats and with several stylistic variations. What is social video? Social video is video content that has been optimised for being viewed and engaged with on social media. Therefore, although social video can be viewed in isolation, this type of video content works best in the context of social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, where the video is one part of a post. For example, the social video is used to draw people in, but the text and description around the video gives more context and the Call To Action (CTA) button encourages viewers to take action – whether that’s making a donation or signing a petition. Here are 5 new social videos that the Empower team have created recently, to give you an idea of what a social video is and the impact social videos can have. Plus, you can view our full showcase on YouTube. Interested in Empower making a social video for your organisation? Contact us to start your project > Debthacker – Campaigning organisation launch Empower helped launch Debthacker, a new campaigning organisation, tackling payday loan lenders, with a range of digital and social support, including creation of this video. We scripted the launch video and used a combination of custom shot, client sourced and stock footage to deliver the campaign’s key messages and help establish this new brand and mission . Since launching Debthacker has helped people make over £1.7million in claims, as well as talk openly about debt problems and associated feelings of stigma. Over 15,000 supporters have called for the Financial Conduct Authority to properly enforce their rules to unaffordable lending. The Wildlife Trusts – Conservation campaigning Empower have worked with The Wildlife Trusts on multiple projects, and this time the brief was to deliver an emotive, impactful video to drive engagement with a new conservation campaign, targeting a planned motorway threatening the beautiful Gwent Levels waterways. The Trusts provided powerful messaging and a call to action, as well as access to their amazing video catalogue. We combined this with stock video, meaning no extra shooting was needed and we were able to turn this project around really quickly and affordably. The video received nearly 30,000 views on Twitter alone, and best news of all, we saved the Gwent Levels! We Mean Business – CEO Positioning This simple video for our long running client We Mean Business, promotes and positions their CEO Nigel Topping as a passionate exponent for the renewables revolution. The video was a creative use of standard ‘talking head’ footage, combining Nigel enthusing on the topic, with infographic visuals illustrating key points and facts. We Mean Business is a global nonprofit coalition working with the world’s most influential businesses to take action on climate change. Jo Cox Foundation – New Launch, Archive Footage This video is a great example of what we can do when you open up your content library to us. We compiled this video to launch the Great Get Together from crowd-sourced content and existing brand assets. No extra shoots were required, meaning we could provide fresh content and keep production costs super low. Empower have been working with the wonderful Jo Cox Foundation for three years, supporting the annual, summer Great Get Together, and the 2018 Great Christmas Get Together – read more in our blog post. World Resources Institute – Campaigning Clever use of stock footage, featuring famous faces and places, is a great way to catch attention in crowded newsfeeds, and add emphasis, weight and gravitas to your campaign. Our video team are experienced at sourcing affordable and free-to-use news footage that can be used in client videos. In this example, we produced an impactful social video for global research organisation, World Resources Institute who campaign for a more sustainable future, to deliver their message to the UN Climate Talks. Shots of world leaders, and the historic signing of, the Paris Climate Agreement, delivered weight and storytelling to the video’s message of climate action urgency.
